Cookie Policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
This page lists every cookie the SMART 2026 National Quiz platform sets, what each one does and how long it lasts. It is written from the software rather than from a template: if a cookie is not on this page, the site does not set it.
The short version
We set four cookies, all of them ours, and all of them needed to run the site - signing you in, protecting the forms you submit, keeping you signed in if you ask us to, and remembering that you have read the notice. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics, no social media pixels and no third-party cookies of any kind. Nothing about your browsing is sold or shared with anybody.
The cookies we set
| Name | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| smart2026-session | The session. Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, holds your order while you are in checkout, carries the one-off messages after an action ("your password has been reset"), and remembers which tickets you have selected. | 120 minutes, renewed as you use the site |
| XSRF-TOKEN | A security token that proves a form - signing in, buying a ticket, cancelling a payment - was submitted from a page we served, and not from somewhere else pretending to be you. | 120 minutes, renewed as you use the site |
| remember_web_… | Only set if you tick Remember me when you sign in. It keeps you signed in on that device after you close the browser. Leave the box unticked and this cookie is never created. | 400 days, or until you sign out |
| cookie_notice | Records that you have read the cookie notice, so it is not shown on every page. It holds no personal information and nothing is sent anywhere. | 365 days |
What is stored in your browser instead
Your colour theme choice (light, dark or match your device) is kept in your browser's local storage under the key theme. It never leaves your device, we do not receive it, and clearing your browser data removes it. With it cleared, the site follows your device's own setting.
What we do not use
- No advertising, marketing or retargeting cookies.
- No analytics or site-statistics cookies.
- No social media or sharing widgets that track you.
- No third-party cookies at all, and no fonts, scripts or images loaded from another company's servers.
Payments
Mobile Money is handled between our server and PawaPay, our payment provider, so no payment script runs in your browser and no payment cookie is set. You approve the payment on your own handset, and your Mobile Money PIN is entered there and never reaches this website - see the Privacy Policy for what PawaPay receives and why.
Why there is no "reject all" button
A choice between "accept" and "reject" only makes sense when some cookies are optional. Every cookie listed above is needed for the site to work at all: with the first two refused, nobody can sign in or buy a ticket, and there is no version of the platform that runs without them. So the notice explains what is set and asks you to acknowledge it, rather than offering you switches that would not do anything. If we ever add something optional - analytics, for instance - it will arrive with a real choice, switched off until you allow it, and this page will say so.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies - usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking the cookies above will stop you signing in or completing a purchase, because the site depends on them. Deleting the cookie_notice cookie simply brings the notice back. Blocking cookies in a private window has the same effect for that window only.
